After clashes between pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian protesters rocked Manhattan on Thursday night, police limited access to Grand Central Terminal and arrested many people.
Following notification to the MTA of an upcoming pro-Palestinian demonstration at 5:30 p.m., the police presence outside the terminal was augmented.
Across from Grand Central, on 42nd Street, protesters gathered in Pershing Square.
Protesters eventually reached Penn Plaza, which is adjacent to Madison Square Garden, after marching south past 40th Street.

The exact number of arrests was not immediately disclosed by the police.
Commuters are the only ones allowed inside the terminal due to its history of disruptive pro-Palestinian rallies.
People should allow additional time to catch their trains, according to the MTA.
Commuters were also encouraged to use their phones to stay updated on schedule changes.
