MSP effort collects purses for sex abuse victims

Michigan State Police are marking April as Sexual Assault Awareness month with a collection campaign to assist victims of sexual abuse.

The ‘Purses with a Purpose’ initiative gathers new and gently used purses and handbags filled with comfort items including toiletries, socks, snacks/candy, and other self-care items that are then donated to domestic violence shelters across the state.

The Brighton MSP Post is among those taking part, and last week approximately 200 purses and hygiene products were dropped off to LACASA Center in Howell.
