A motorcyclist was killed Monday when he was hit by a pickup truck in Genoa Township.
The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office reports deputies were dispatched at approximately 2:52 p.m. to the area of E. Grand River and Wildwood Drive on the report of a pickup truck versus a motorcycle crash involving injuries.
A preliminary investigation indicated that a 2012 Dodge Ram operated by a 20-year-old male Howell resident was exiting the Middle Town Market when he was struck by a 1985 Honda motorcycle operated by a 38-year-old Milford man, who was traveling east on Grand River.
The operator of the Honda was transported to University of Michigan Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The operator of the Dodge was uninjured. The passenger of the Dodge, a 22-year-old female Howell resident, was uninjured.
Authorities says that speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash. The operator of the Dodge was belted during the crash, while the operator of the Honda was not wearing a helmet. The road was closed for approximately two and half hours for investigation and clean up.
Deputies were assisted by MSP, Livingston County EMS, and the Brighton Area Fire Department.
The incident remains under investigation by the Livingston County Major Crash Team.
