An accident in south Charlotte on Thursday afternoon claimed the life of one individual.
Near Valencia Terrace on Fairview Road, the accident happened at about 3:15 p.m., according to medical officials. The incident reportedly included a motorbike and a vehicle.
At least one person was declared deceased upon arrival.
Between Colony and Carmel Roads, Fairview Road was blocked for a few hours in each direction, but it is now open again.
The road closure is scheduled to last for several hours, so commuters should plan alternative routes.
Residents in the neighborhood have voiced their displeasure with the regularity of accidents, pointing to persistent problems such as careless driving and excessive speeding as causes. A nearby resident expressed her sorrow at hearing of yet another terrible accident on this road.
“We have been requesting additional safety measures, such as speed bumps or heightened police presence, but thus far, no action has been taken.”
