MDOC investigator bound over for trial on charges stemming from Hartland prostitution sting

The suspect charged in a suspected prostitution operation last month in Hartland Township has been bound over for trial.

44-year-old Scott Matthew Fink of Milford, who is an investigator with the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC), waived his exam on Tuesday in 53rd District Court, sending his case to circuit court for trial.

Fink was arrested by the Michigan State Police Special Investigation Section after they executed a search warrant May 19th at the Best Western in Hartland Township, located at US-23 and M-59.

Fink is a former police detective with the Highland Park Police Department who was employed at the time as a special investigator with the MDOC’s Internal Affairs Division. Also arrested was a 35-year-old East Lansing woman, who was released pending further investigation.

Chris Gautz, spokesperson for the MDOC, says that Fink was placed on unpaid suspension following the arrest.

Fink is charged with transporting a person for prostitution, accepting earnings from prostitution, and aiding and abetting.
