The Maryland State’s Attorney’s Office said that two men from Baltimore were found guilty on Wednesday of kidnapping, carjacking, and other related charges after they pretended to be police officers and went on a violent run of kidnapping and robbing people.
Dennis Allen Hairston, 34, of Windsor Mill, Maryland, and Donte Davon Stanley, 33, of Rosedale, Maryland, were found guilty today by a federal jury after a three-week trial.
They were found guilty of federal charges of kidnapping and robbery conspiracies, kidnapping, carjacking, and robbery affecting commerce. It was also found that Hairston used, carried, and brandished a gun during and in connection with a violent crime.
Hairston and Stanley were both found guilty of planning to kidnap someone and planning to rob a business. It was found that Hairston was guilty of both the first and second abductions. Stanley, on the other hand, was found guilty of the first abduction but not guilty of the second. Both suspects were found not guilty of any crimes related to a third kidnapping.
The trial showed that the accused planned and carried out the kidnapping of three people from May 3, 2021, to August 26, 2021.
Two of the victims worked at places that cash checks. Witnesses at the trial said that the defendants planned to rob the check cashing businesses where two of the victims worked and steal cash and other valuable things from the third victim. At trial, it was also shown that the defendants planned and organized the theft of two cars from victims.
