Authorities have reported a concerning incident involving a Pennsylvania man who allegedly tampered with the power supply of a woman’s residence. The man is believed to have met the woman through an online dating platform, raising suspicions of stalking.
A 33-year-old man from King of Prussia, Matthew Bustin, voluntarily surrendered to the police on June 1. He is facing charges of burglary, criminal trespassing, stalking, and harassment, as stated in a news release from the Bensalem Township Police Department on June 3.
No attorney information for Bustin was included in the court records.
According to the police, a woman reported an unsettling incident upon returning from her vacation. She discovered that all the circuit breakers in her home had been turned off and the Internet connection had been manually unscrewed from the wall.
According to the police, detectives discovered a GPS tracking device on the woman’s car, which was linked to Bustin through account information.
According to the police, data transmission from the device began on April 5.
According to the police, the victim informed them that she had met Bustin on a dating website. However, she decided to end their relationship after a few meetings due to feeling uncomfortable with his odd behavior.
According to authorities, the woman had blocked him on social media, but he persisted in sending her text messages and appearing unexpectedly.
Police have obtained surveillance video from the woman’s workplace, which captures Bustin approaching the victim’s car and reaching underneath it.
According to police, Bustin’s cellphone location data revealed that he had been near the victim’s home or workplace without her knowledge on multiple occasions after their relationship ended. This included a time when her power was turned off while she was away on vacation, as confirmed by her utility provider.
“This behavior is concerning,” commented the Bensalem police.
Bustin was taken into custody and held at Bucks County Correctional Facility on bail set at 10% of US$2 million (RM9.39 million), according to police.
King of Prussia is located approximately 20 miles northwest of Philadelphia.
