Tiffin, Ohio — A quiet Seneca County neighborhood is reeling after a devastating triple homicide and suicide that unfolded Wednesday evening, leaving a baby, a 7-year-old boy and the child’s father dead. Police say the violence was carried out by 42-year-old Ryan Eagon, who allegedly ambushed his wife as she attempted to move out of their home amid ongoing domestic issues.
Tragic Ambush Outside Family Home
According to the Tiffin Police Department, the mother — who survived the attack — had returned to the home on Columbus Avenue with 29-year-old Dustin Willey, the father of her 7-year-old son, to help her gather belongings. Police said the pair believed Eagon was out of town at the time.
While the adults packed, both children waited near the vehicle outside. Moments later, they heard the 7-year-old cry out and rushed to check on him.
That’s when they discovered Eagon in the driveway, armed.
Children and Co-Parent Fatally Shot
Police say Eagon immediately opened fire, chasing Willey and shooting him several times. Authorities allege he then turned the gun on both children, killing the 7-month-old infant he shared with his wife and Willey’s 7-year-old son.
“As a community, we are not accustomed to events of this horrific and heartbreaking nature in Tiffin,” — Police Chief David Pauly, in a public statement.
After shooting the three victims, Eagon allegedly fired a fatal shot at himself.
The mother — whom police described as “shock[ed], overwhelmed and visibly traumatized” — carried her children back inside before calling 911.
Victims Pronounced Dead
The infant and Eagon were pronounced dead at the scene. The 7-year-old boy and Willey were transported to area hospitals but both later died of their injuries.
The Seneca County Coroner’s Office is conducting autopsies. Police emphasize that the investigation remains underway.
Community Mourning a Beloved Father and Two Children
Willey, described by loved ones as a devoted father and friend, is being mourned across the community.
His former employer, Kelly Gallagher, told local station that he embodied dedication and kindness.
“He was a good father. He would do anything for that boy,” Gallagher said. “He had the biggest heart. Losing him feels like losing a family member.”
A public vigil is scheduled for Sunday at 6 p.m. at East Green on E. Market Street, where residents are expected to gather to honor the victims and support the grieving families.
