A longtime doctor who treated generations of patients in Livingston County has passed away.
Dr. Ismael Yanga, Jr. of Howell died Tuesday, September 27. He was 90.

Dr. Yanga was born February 5, 1932 in Bocaue, Bulacan, Philippines, where he grew up and survived many hardships including the occupation of the Japanese military during World War II.
He provided medical care to Livingston County residents for over 50 years, beginning his practice in 1973 in Pinckney. He was a General Surgeon and Primary Care practitioner and was very active in the medical community where he served on many boards and committees. He was also active in his church community where he volunteered his time and talents.
According to a memorial on the Watkins Brothers Funeral Home website, Yanga will always be remembered as a very generous and kind person who believed in helping people and his community first.
A funeral service will be held Monday, October 3, at 11:00 AM at Tri-Lakes Baptist Church in Brighton (visitation 10:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM). Visitation will be held Sunday, October 2, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, also at the church.
