At least five Livingston fire departments were called out to assist with a massive grain fire near Saginaw that began Sunday night.
Units with the Howell, Brighton, Hamburg, Fowlerville and Putnam Township fire departments traveled a grain silo fire in Hemlock. They were called out as members of the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System, or MABAS, a statewide mutual aid response system for fire, EMS and specialized incident operational teams.
While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, it remained burning Tuesday afternoon.
The local units that responded helped to make up the Livingston County Tanker Strike Team, which according to a post by the Hamburg Township Fire Department, hauled over 150,000 gallons of water to help fight the fire.
