Livingston Dems raise donations to help provide nearly 10,000 meals

The Livingston County Democratic Party’s annual food drive for Gleaners Community Food Bank will help provide nearly 10,000 meals to residents experiencing food insecurity.

According to a release, the combination of checks, on-line donations, and nonperishable food donations, will result in 9,766 meals.

“Livingston County Democrats have once again shown their generosity to people who need a helping hand. This annual tradition for our party is one way for us to put into action our core value of compassion for others,” said Judy Daubenmier, party chair,. “Livingston County is fortunate to have a great partner such as Gleaners to work with to make this drive successful.”

The party’s annual Gleaners’ drive ended Monday. The collection effort has been an annual holiday tradition for the party for many years, resulting in the donation of thousands of meals.

Gleaners distributes food to those in need from its location in Brighton at 5924 Sterling Dr, between Brighton and Howell, but it also supplies food to 534 partner agencies such as soup kitchens and food pantries in Livingston County and the rest of southeast Michigan.
