Livingston County EMS mourns former member’s passing

A beloved member of the Livingston County community of first responders is being mourned following her passing.

In a Facebook post Monday, Livingston County EMS announced “with great sadness” the passing of Cassandra Schmidt.

“Cassandra was a part of the LCEMS family and worked as a paramedic here for over a decade before moving on to pursue a nursing career,” stated the post. “She will always be remembered as a very caring and compassionate person who always worked hard to make others feel better. She was a great friend to many and a wonderful clinician to her patients. She was driven, and passionate, and she will be greatly missed by so many. Cassandra Schmidt was a legend. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time.”

A GoFundMe account with $10,000 goal has been organized following her passing, which is believed to have been caused by an unexpected stroke.

“Cassandra was an amazing wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend to many. She was taken from us way too soon,” stated organizer Rae-Anna Lindenmuth. “Any help to get Chris and Jackson in their time of transition would be helpful. Thank you for loving our girl.”
