Livingston County Caregiver Fair returns to in-person

The Livingston County Consortium on Aging’s annual Caregiver Fair is back in-person at the Brighton High School this Saturday, October 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The annual event is geared toward meeting the challenges that caregivers face, providing resources and educational sessions to help seniors and caregivers find the resources they need to continue caring for loved ones. Nearly fifty vendors will provide resources at the Caregiver Fair this year. Resources include transportation, nutritional care, support services, financial counseling, home safety, respite, homecare and more.

Hundreds of seniors, caregivers and community members attend this annual event. This is the first in-person fair since 2019, as the Consortium did a “drive-thru” version of the Caregiver Fair last year due to pandemic health and safety concerns.

Multiple breakout rooms will be provided for special education sessions including Michigan State Police’s “Scam Presentation,” Alzheimer’s Association’s “Effective Communication Strategies,” Nancy Nawrocki’s “How to Pay for Long-Term Care Without Public Benefits,” a presentation by Livingston County Veteran Services, the Big Red Barrel medication take-back and more.

Organizers say it is also a great event for caregivers to meet and talk with other caregivers who deal with similar situations and challenges.

The event is free to the community; all sponsorships go toward the Consortium’s grant fund to help fund projects benefitting seniors in Livingston County.

For any questions about the event in general, please reach out to the Consortium at lccoa48843@gmail.com or Sam Jorgens at sjorgens@vinadental.org.
