Inaugural 9/11 Never Forget 5K Trail Run/Walk announced

Livingston County Veteran Services, Howell Recreation, and local first responders have announced the first annual 9/11 Never Forget 5K Trail Run/Walk.

Veteran Services Director Ramon Baca says he and his team want the 5K to honor the first responder heroes from that tragic day and the sacrifices of the service members who served overseas in response to those events.

“We all suffered terrible loss because of the September 11th attacks, however, it ultimately made us stronger,” said Baca. “Together we can ensure that no one in our community ever forgets that day and the men and women who answered the call to serve.”

The race will be held on September 16, 2023 at Fillmore County Park (7075 McClements Rd. in Brighton). A portion of the raised funds will benefit Livingston County Parks.

Those wishing to participate are asked to register online at https://runsignup.com/Race/MI/Brighton/911NeverForgetTrailRunWalk5k.

All runners will receive a t-shirt and a finisher medal. Register before August 1st for $25, or $30 after.

Any individual or business who wants to know more about sponsorship opportunities or volunteer openings are asked to email Veteran Services at veterans@livgov.com.
