Hyattsville, Maryland —
A man in Hyattsville was robbed and shot in the leg while he was using an ATM at a bank. The same suspect, according to authorities, seems to have been involved in a second armed robbery on Mount Rainier within minutes of each other.
Around 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, near the 6400 block of Belcrest Road, a shooting and armed robbery occurred in the parking lot of the Capital One Bank, according to the Hyattsville Police. The suspect approached the victim in a black automobile as he walked across the parking lot with a rucksack following his visit to the ATM.
As soon as the suspect stepped out of the vehicle, the victim threw his bag on the ground. One bullet hit the victim in the leg, and the defendant allegedly shot at him three times, according to the police.
It was at this point that the suspect made off with the bag. His attire was characterized as a white ski mask above a dark shirt. After being taken to a nearby hospital, the injured person was found to be breathing and aware.
According to Chief Linwood Alston of the Mount Rainier Police Department (MRPD), the same individual appeared to have carried out a second armed robbery at a 7-Eleven in Mount Rainier just minutes before the shooting in Hyattsville.

Around 5:47 p.m. on Saturday, the Montrose Regional Police Department was dispatched to the location. The accused allegedly approached a passerby outside the Varnum Street convenience shop, held him up at gunpoint, and then made off with the victim’s money. The victim escaped unharmed.
