MJP –
The woman who was shot and murdered at the 1711 Caroline Apartments on Friday night has been identified as 34-year-old Vanity Williams, according to the Houston Police Department.
Those close to Williams have stated their confusion at the motivations of those who would seek her murder.
Friends of Williams’, Hope Giselle, expressed shock and disbelief that someone would seek to brutally kill her in such a manner.
The news that Williams was shot many times in her apartment lobby and died is still affecting Giselle, who received it a week ago.
“She created and made a safe space for everybody, so to think that someone would want to hurt her and have a justified reason is something I cannot fathom,” said Giselle.

Williams, according to Giselle, is greater than the awful circumstances of her death. She had served in the Air Force and was now a nursing school alumna who wanted to start a medical spa.
She had a contagious laugh and a positive attitude about life. According to Giselle, she could always bring a grin or a giggle to your face, regardless of her mood.
Many point to Williams’s dedication to empowering women and the Black community. Her tribe has spoken highly of her fierce loyalty and expressed their loss of her forthright nature.
“She had a dope personality outside of just being able to have educated conversation and speak truth to power about what it means to be a woman, what it means to be a woman of color,” said Giselle.
Just that her case is an active investigation; the police haven’t been able to disclose any additional facts.
