Houston, Texas – There may be a few isolated thunderstorms later on today, according to a weather alert from the National Weather Service (NWS) for the Houston-Galveston area.
These storms, which could get quite violent in certain places, are predicted to be triggered by a mix of persistent heat and a weak frontal boundary.
Storms are expected to form between 4:00 and 9:00 p.m., with the western counties, including Columbus and College Station, being the most vulnerable, according to the National Weather Service.
Locally heavy rains, frequent lightning, and strong gusts are all things that residents should be ready for. Particularly in the locations marked as being in the mild risk zone, the weather service stresses that certain storms may cause somewhat strong gusts.
