GRETNA, Louisiana (MJP) –
While Isabella Landeche sat in the passenger seat on Saturday night, a dashcam video captured the view from inside the car. Suddenly, a red truck sped out in front of her boyfriend and them as they were going home.
Suddenly, Landeche became disoriented after hearing him yell and see a crimson truck.
Near Gretna’s Wall Boulevard and Iberia Street crossroads, it occurred. They were being driven home by Landeche’s boyfriend following their celebration of her impending birthday.
His excuse is that he was simply getting into the proper lane after checking his blind area. The red truck speeds across the screen right as he begins to merge.
When asked about his initial sensation following the collision, Landeche recalled feeling blood drain from his nose.
Although that was fortunately the extent of their injuries, what transpired immediately following the accident is just as distressing.
An alternative perspective can be seen in the surveillance footage originating from a nearby residence. Following the collision, the driver of the red vehicle swiftly reverses down Iberia Street and departs.

“I don’t understand, especially an accident that bad, how you can just have complete disregard for somebody’s life,” Landeche added.
Data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicates that hit-and-run accidents occur frequently in the United States.
One occurs every 43 seconds in the United States, according to the American Automobile Association (Trademark A), and Louisiana is among the top three states in terms of the number of fatalities caused by these crashes.
The sound of his automobile slamming into them, repeated over and over again, haunts Landeche’s nights when she closes her eyes.
Extra harm to their property was the end outcome for one couple. An accidental frontal impact caused the airbags to inflate. The driver departed, so they were unable to obtain a license plate, and their liability insurance won’t cover anything. Hopefully, someone will come forward and identify the owner of that truck.
“We know it’s a red Nissan Titian and it’s going to have some kind of damage to the passenger side,” said Landeche.
They are grateful to have survived the crash, but the damage is still there.
WWL Louisiana contacted the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office to determine the current number of hit-and-run incidents in the parish and to inquire about any developments on this case. Only the Traffic Division has been notified of this collision, according to the spokesperson.
