An Oceola Township man charged with the murder of his grandparents is set to return to court this week.
A pre-trial hearing is set Friday for 22-year-old Chance Raymond Hallam, who is charged with two counts of open murder in the deaths of 75-year-old Dale Dormanen and his wife, 79-year-old Joan Dormanen. Troopers with the Michigan State Police found their bodies November 19th inside of their home at 1263 Maple Leaf Lane.

Both reportedly suffered extensive stab wounds. Hallam, who made the call to 911 that summoned the troopers, was still on the phone when they arrived and was then taken into custody.
Hallam, who remains jailed without bond, was previously found competent to stand trial, although a request was later granted for an independent exam.
