A groundbreaking ceremony has been set for Recycle Livingston’s new office facility.
Currently working out of a trailer, the organization will be constructing a new headquarters building at its drop-off site in Howell as well purchasing new compacting and bailing equipment and replacing a forklift and two heavy-duty pallet jacks in an effort to increase its recycling capabilities.
A ceremony to celebrate that will be held on Thursday March 23rd at 11:30 a.m.
The volunteer-run nonprofit is financing the new facility with a grant from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy for more than $282,000 along with $171,000 in matching funds from the Kellogg Family Foundation. The City of Howell, which leases the Catrell Street property to Recycle Livingston for $1, a year, is acting as a fiduciary for the project.
According to the agreement, the new administrative building will be renamed the Kellogg Environmental Center, while the overall operation itself will retain the title of Recycle Livingston.

Recycle Livingston says that as they experience the removal of their current office trailer, they will have to change some site operations until the building is completed. March 11th will be the last day they will be accepting documents for confidential shredding, with plans to resume that service once they have moved into their new space, which is expected to be by the end of August/first of September.
