Green Oak Township Police Officer Pat Moll to retire after 25 years

After 25 years on the job, Green Oak Township Police Officer Pat Moll will be retiring next month.

According to a post on the on the Green Oak Township Police Department Facebook page, Moll’s last day will be January 5, 2023.

“Officer Moll has been a fantastic source of community relations throughout his years and has given more of his life than not to serve Green Oak Township,” stated the post. “Enjoy your retirement and time with your family. Have fun in “the recliner” you will be missed. Thank you for your service!”

To say Officer Moll has given more of his than not may be an understatement. Moll was wounded in the line of duty on Memorial Day 2004 when a 19-year-old suspect he was attempting to arrest on an outstanding probation violation warrant opened fire with an assault rifle, hitting Moll and Brighton Officer Mike Zaccagni several times. They returned fire and killed the suspect.

Officer Moll spent several months recovering from his wounds, requiring multiple surgeries, and yet he returned to the job he loved and has continued to serve with distinction.
