In Nevada County, California —
According to the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office, a woman from Grass Valley is in the process of recovering from wounds inflicted by a gunman who later committed suicide.
The sheriff’s office was alerted to allegations of gunfire at a property on Conifer Lane shortly before 3 o’clock in the afternoon, according to Sean Scales, a spokeswoman for the institution.
They discovered a 65-year-old woman who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the neck, face, and back.
An area hospital was tasked with treating her, according to Scales, and she is expected to make a full recovery. In addition to the little youngster, two additional family members were living in the house. They managed to escape the house without accident.
For three hours, deputies tried and failed to reach the person they believed to be the gunman, who they thought was concealed within the house.
“We launched a drone with the assistance of the Grass Valley Police Department and the Placer County Sheriff’s Office and located the subject inside the residence,” Scales added.
Someone was placed on a stretcher and transported to an adjacent hospital shortly after.
“It was a subject located inside the residence with several wounds and medical treatment was taking place when he was transported,” Scales explained.
