A high profile criminal case will be tried in Livingston County.

Following district court judges in Genesee County disqualifying themselves from hearing the case against Clerk-Register John Gleason, the State Court Administrator’s Office on Thursday assigned Livingston County District Judge Daniel Bain to oversee the trial.
Gleason was charged with bribing or intimidating a witness and willful neglect of duty after a Genesee County Sheriff’s Office investigation into allegations that Gleason pressured county employees to backdate a marriage affidavit and license for a wedding he performed in December 2019 in Shiawassee County.
If convicted on the charges, Gleason would face up to four years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.
