Girl dies after being pulled from water at Kensington Metropark

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 6-year-old girl pulled from Kent Lake Monday afternoon.

Deputies responded to Martindale Beach in Kensington Metropark at approximately 5:30 p.m. on the report of a child who had gone missing. Beachgoers reportedly formed a chain to help look for the girl, while a dive team was also deployed.

After the girl was located in a weedy area, first responders pulled the girl from the water and performed CPR before she was taken to the hospital, where she later passed away.
