The opinions of those in the know
Patrick De Haan, GasBuddy’s chief of petroleum analysis: It appears likely that the national average will keep declining and reach $2.99 per gallon for the first time since 2021, thanks to the switch to winter gasoline that is taking place today at most stations across the nation.
Unfortunately, while prices are falling in almost every state, California has been hit hard by tight supply and rising costs due to refinery maintenance and outages. Here’s hoping this problem is fixed by the end of the month so that California can join the rest of the country in the reduction.
