First responders helped ensure there were no injuries from a fire early Friday in Hamburg Township that caused extensive damage.

Hamburg Township Public Safety personnel were dispatched just after 3:21 a.m. to a residential structure fire on Bauer Road near Hamburg Road.

Upon arrival, authorities say Hamburg Township police officers found the home to be engulfed in flames. Officers secured the two residents and their pets away from the home as firefighters arrived on scene and began fighting the blaze.

Firefighters from Brighton Area Fire Authority, Green Oak Township, Putnam Township,

Unadilla Township, Northfield Township and Dexter also responded and assisted Hamburg Township Fire in extinguishing the fire.

There were no injuries. However, the home suffered extensive damage.

The fire remains under investigation, although officials say it appears that an electrical issue was the cause of the fire.
