Fenton man to stand trial for fatal crash

A Fenton man has been bound over for trial in a fatal crash last year in Tyrone Township.

36-year-old Robert Albert of Fenton waived his exam last week for his role in the fatal crash that occurred on September 9th, 2022 at the intersection of Denton Hill Road at Denton Creek Drive.

Albert was charged with one count of Second Degree Murder, one count of Operating While Intoxicated Causing Death and one count of Operating While Intoxicated Causing Serious Injury.

An investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office determined that Albert was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado that was southbound on Denton Hill Road when it crashed into an eastbound 2017 Chevrolet Camaro attempting to turn north from Denton Creek Drive.  As a result of the crash, both vehicles left the roadway and required heavy extrication by the Fenton City Fire Department.

The driver of the Chevrolet Camaro, a 46 year old female from Fenton, succumbed to her injuries at the scene while her 48 year old male passenger from Fenton, was transported to the hospital for treatment of critical injuries.

Albert was transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries while his 37 year old female passenger was treated and released at the scene.

He remains jailed on a $400,000 cash surety bond pending June 2nd pretrial hearing.
