The Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas), along with Origin Bank and Century Next Bank, has awarded the Zion Traveler Community Development Corporation (Zion CDC) a $60,000 grant.
The grant, part of the Partnership Grant Program (PGP), will help the nonprofit assist families facing chronic poverty by covering rent, utilities, and food costs.
Community Celebration Marks Fund Presentation
A special event was held last week to present the funds, with Rev. Maurice White, pastor of Zion Traveler Baptist Church, expressing deep gratitude.
“This grant will help us in many ways,” said Rev. White. “Providing community members with much-needed assistance is a true blessing. These funds have allowed us to reach more underserved areas of the parish.”
Zion CDC’s Mission to Support Local Communities
Zion CDC promotes social and economic justice, demonstrates compassion, and reduces poverty in the Lincoln Parish community.
The funding will also help cover administrative expenses and support educational programs and job training initiatives.
Bank Officials Highlight the Importance of Nonprofit Support
Mark Taylor, Executive Vice President and CFO at Century Next Bank, emphasized the importance of supporting nonprofits.
“Nonprofits face many challenges, and being able to provide these funds is incredibly meaningful,” he said.
How the Partnership Grant Program Works?
Through the PGP, FHLB Dallas member banks contribute amounts ranging from $500 to $5,000. FHLB Dallas then matches these contributions at a 5:1 ratio, providing up to $25,000 per member institution.
This initiative strengthens ties between local nonprofits and FHLB Dallas members.
Positive Community Impact and Bank Partnerships
Origin Bank Vice President Shelia Grayson, who serves as CRA and Community Development Officer, shared similar sentiments. “We are proud to participate in the Partnership Grant Program.
It’s rewarding to see the positive impact these grants have on community-focused organizations and the people they serve,” she said.
Broader Grant Distribution Efforts by FHLB Dallas
The PGP funds awarded this year are part of a broader $1.2 million grant distribution by FHLB Dallas and its member institutions.
Century Next and Origin Bank’s Ongoing Commitment
Greg Hettrick, Senior Vice President and Director of Community Investment at FHLB Dallas, praised both Century Next and Origin Bank for their commitment to community support.
“These banks continue to be strong partners in outreach and development efforts,” Hettrick noted.
