A Howell man, identified by authorities as Greg Francis Gaither, was arrested on Thursday and charged with multiple counts of child pornography.
The FBI says after executing a warrant in December at the home of a Pennsylvania suspect, they learned the individual there was using smartphone apps to coerce underage girls to send explicit images and videos, which he then distributed via the Telegram messaging app.
That person, whom the FBI only identified as Individual A, said he was talking to someone daily he knew as “Austin,” who worked for Door Dash in Michigan.
The FBI said Austin was actually Greg Francis Gaither, who lived on Booth Street in Howell. That’s where a search warrant was executed on March 2, during which Gaither reportedly refused to show himself to agents for several minutes and when he did, his cell phone appeared to have been factory reset.
Gaither is set for a detention hearing Monday at the federal courthouse in Bay City.
