Engelter leaving BAS for same position with Pinckney Schools

Mike Engelter, the Brighton Area Schools (BAS) Asst. Superintendent for Finance, is leaving the district.

Engelter, who has been the BAS Assistant Superintendent for Finance since September of 2019, will become the next Asst. Superintendent for Finance for the Pinckney Community Schools.

“This is a very big loss for the Brighton Area Schools,” said Dr. Matt Outlaw, Superintendent for the Brighton Area Schools. “Mike has worked tirelessly to provide good stewardship of taxpayer dollars, to ensure transparency and to ensure that resources are used to enhance the student experience.  His integrity, his caring personality, his collaborative spirit and his sense of humor will all be sorely missed.”

Outlaw noted that the district’s fund balance has increased from 9.3% in 2019-20 to 15.81% during Engelter’s tenure, and that the district has received spotless financial audits each year while he has received the highest ratings possible on all of his performance reviews.

Dr. Liz Mosher, Asst Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, echoed that sentiment.

“Since his arrival, Mike has been dedicated to this district,” she said. “His extraordinary knowledge of district finances, systems, and procedures has been such a benefit to BAS during these past four years. He will be missed.”

BAS officials say they have a position posted and are currently seeking qualified applicants.
