More lane closures are expected on I-96 in western Oakland County starting next week.
Starting at 6 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, the I-96 Flex Route project will shift part of the eastbound lanes from Kent Lake Road to Wixom Road across the median until late fall. During the traffic shift, there will be two lanes open in each direction on the westbound side of I-96.
As part of the traffic shift, the follow ramps will be closed until late fall:
– The northbound and southbound Milford Road ramps to eastbound I-96
Westbound I-96 will continue to have two lanes open from Wixom to Kent Lake roads with all on/off ramps open.
MDOT officials say there may be additional changes to this stretch of the project, the information for which will be posted at DrivingOakland.org.
