The defendant in a shooting case was found competent to stand trial on July 19 by Judge Anthony Epstein of the DC Superior Court, who relied on a report from the DC Department of Behavioral Health (DBH).
The 58-year-old Keith Robinson is facing charges of assault with intent to murder while armed. The incident is said to have taken place on May 23, in the 3000 block of B Street, SE, and involved a domestic shooting that did not result in fatalities. His fiancée was shot four times in the arm and four times in the chest in the shooting.
Neither side raised any objections during the hearing, and the defense asked for a two-week extension so they could review new evidence.
Court records indicate that on May 24, while undergoing therapy for mental health issues, Robinson allegedly informed his social worker that he had shot his fiancée and wanted to turn himself into the authorities.
