Motorists through Howell can expect delays starting today as part of the City’s ongoing water system improvements.
The City of Howell will be replacing the existing water main and leads along East Grand River Avenue from Barnard Street to Lucy Road, with project completion is anticipated to occur this fall.
The proposed project includes replacing existing 4”, 6”, and 8” water main with a new 12” water main. Existing water service leads will be replaced up to, and including, the existing curb stop. The new water main will be directionally drilled, to minimize disruption to the project area. Any damaged sections of road, sidewalk, and curb, will be removed and replaced and all grass disturbed will be graded, seeded and watered.
While local traffic will be maintained during construction, temporary lane closures and detours will occur, which officials say will most likely cause delays.
Meanwhile, mail service & trash collection will be maintained throughout the entire construction process.
