The Cub Scouts of Pack 344 have partnered with Bountiful Harvest of Brighton, collecting nonperishable food along the parade route during the Memorial Day Parade in Brighton on Monday, May 29th.
The American Legion Post 235 will be conducting the 2023 Memorial Day Parade in Brighton starting Monday at 10 a.m. Due to the Main Street Streetscape Project, the parade route has been changed. The parade starts at Brighton High School, continues on S. Seventh Street, to Main Street, to N. First Street, and then over the Tridge to the Veterans Memorial.
Those who plan to attend the parade are asked to bring canned goods and other nonperishable food items, give them to the Scouts and their families to help fill the trailer as it goes by. For those who can’t make it to the parade, the Scouts will be at the Brighton Farmers Market every Saturday and can collect from them there.
Bountiful Harvest provides food for over 5,100 families in Livingston County, with new families added weekly. The choice of food include: fresh meat, dairy products, canned goods, and fresh produce when in season. Also available are items such as toilet paper, paper towel, baby food, diapers, wipes and formula. Other services include: employment services, a library, and clothing, free laptop computers for school-aged children, and hot-delivered meals.
The pantry is located at 2900 East Grand River, in Brighton.
