A truck accident Friday morning closed down a freeway ramp near Fowlerville for several hours.

Michigan State Police report that at 8:50 a.m., a Motor Carrier Officer was dispatched to investigate a single vehicle traffic crash involving a semi truck hauling milk.

The truck was reportedly exiting from westbound I-96 to Fowlerville Road when it fell on its side by traveling too fast.

The 55-year-old truck driver was issued a citation for speed and his injuries did not require medical treatment.

The exit ramp to Fowlerville Road from westbound I-96 was closed until about 1:30 p.m. while authorities cleaned up the approximately 12,000 gallons of milk.
