Construction is set to begin on a pedestrian bridge in Hamburg Township.
Township officials say panels to repair decking on the Hay Creek Bridge were delivered last week and detour signs went into place on Friday. The 104-foot bridge along the Lakelands Trail near Chambers Road dates from the 19th century when it was built by the Ann Arbor Railroad.
Construction is expected to run through April. Officials ask that for safety’s sake, people should follow detour signs where posted until they are removed.
This project was made possible by grants from the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, along with matching funding from Hamburg Township.
