Cohoctah crash victim identified

The driver killed Sunday morning when their vehicle crashed into a tree in Cohoctah Township and burst into flames has been identified.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office reports that 31-year-old Michael Scott Gricius of Flushing was the victim in the crash that happened at approximately 9:16 Sunday morning on Oak Grove Road south of Cohoctah Road.

Upon arrival, deputies say they found Gricius’ vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

A preliminary investigation indicates that he was driving a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado southbound on Oak Grove Road south of Cohoctah Road when it left the roadway and struck a tree. The crash caused the vehicle to catch fire. Gricius  died as a result of the crash.

Authorities say his family has been notified.

The crash remains under investigation by the Livingston County Traffic Safety Bureau.
