Cleary University Basketball partners with Lansing Community College

Cleary University’s men’s and women’s basketball teams have found their home for the 2023-24 inaugural season.

The Cougars will be playing at Lansing Community College’s historic Gannon Gymnasium next season, as the University continues to develop plans for a future indoor facility on campus.

“We are very excited to have a partnership with Lansing Community College,” said Cleary Athletic Director Max Ballinger.  “Gannon Gymnasium is a top-notch facility, and we are happy for our coaches and players to know where their home games will be played next season.  This agreement makes the addition of basketball all the more real for our University, and we could not be more excited.”

Cleary announced the addition of men’s and women’s basketball as the 19th and 20th sports in July 2022, and both teams will compete in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) beginning next season.  Carl Thomas was named as the first head men’s basketball coach, after spending the previous six seasons as an assistant at NCAA D1 Duquesne University.  Kevin Mondro will be the first women’s basketball coach, after he spent the last eleven years at NCAA D1 Eastern Michigan University.

Cleary will play eleven doubleheaders next season at Gannon Gymnasium, with the women playing in game one, with the men’s game to follow.
