Citing safety as an issue, the Brighton Kiwanis Club announced Thursday that their Classic Car Show on Main Street has been cancelled for the remaining Sunday concert series.
“The Sunday event has grown, at the same time created a major safety problem in Downtown Brighton,” stated the release. “Reviewing the issues with City of Brighton Police, DPW, Brighton Area Fire and Brighton Kiwanis it was felt the safety of the community and the concert goers was important.”
No further details were provided as to exactly what the safety issues were, but almost all of those commenting on the City of Brighton’s Facebook were displeased with the decision, and questioned the reasoning behind it.
Main Street will still be closed from St Paul to Hyne Street for concert overflow and vendors, while the concerts will continue to run from 6 to 8 p.m.
