Michigan State Police say a 10-year-old died Wednesday at a recreational area near Milford.
Troopers assigned to Camp Dearborn, a 626-acre recreational retreat owned by the City of Dearborn, responded around 6 p.m. after witnesses reported a boy “was on a floating play structure in the middle of the main lake and fell.”
The child, who was unresponsive, was taken to a nearby hospital “with CPR in progress; however, lifesaving efforts were ultimately unsuccessful,” according to an MSP statement.
While an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday, state police say “it appears this was a tragic accident.”
