Gloucester County, North Carolina (MJP) –
After shooting and killing a guy in Cheraw on Sunday evening, a man is now in prison.
At around 11:03 p.m., deputies from Chesterfield County responded to a report of gunshots on Malloy Street in Cheraw, as per the sheriff’s office.
When deputies arrived, they found 27-year-old Daquan Malik Blanton wounded in the right upper leg from a single bullet. After being taken to Florence’s McLeod Hospital, Blanton passed away from his wounds.
According to the sheriff’s office, 22-year-old Anthony Terell Waymyers II was taken into custody for Blanton’s murder after an investigation.
The Chesterfield County Detention Center is serving as Waymyer’s present place of confinement.
The sheriff’s office and the Chesterfield County Coroner’s Office are still looking into the matter.

After the incident, the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office continued their investigation. The authorities are trying to piece together what happened before, during, and after the incident by scrutinizing witness testimony, security footage, and other data.
As the legal procedure progresses, the community is eagerly anticipating further details, including the scheduling of the suspect’s court date. Once the investigation is complete, the matter will be taken up by the Chesterfield County Prosecutor’s Office, which will choose the proper charges.
