The Downtown Brighton Streetscape Project is finally cementing to its final form.
Contractors began pouring concrete last week in the travel lanes and parking areas as well as decorative concrete in crosswalk areas. This week, installation will take place for decorative light pole bases on Grand River, and on Main from West to Grand River, while workers will continue backfilling and rough grading the north side of Main from Hyne Alley to Buckley Real Estate.
The contractor began setting Dolomite stone in Mill Pond Park area and at Hyne intersection and will continue to remove sidewalks at corners of Grand River and Main Street while removing the Millrace slab at the dam area.
In addition, work will continue to pour the sidewalk at Millpond Park and install stone road base from West to Grand River. Once the installation of the electrical for the fire pit is completed, the installation of the underdrain for the roadway will commence. The project is anticipated to last through November 2023.
Meanwhile, downtown merchants continue to support one another through the Believe in Brighton campaign and website which “offers an interactive map highlighting each participating business, provides links to easily navigate to their information, and includes an online store to purchase merchandise to support the initiative.”
