As a young lawyer, Judge Hicks worked as a prosecutor in Nevada in 1968. From 1974 to 1978, he was the District Attorney.
After becoming a partner in a private firm in 1978, Hicks was chosen by President George W. Bush to be a U.S. District Court Judge for the District of Nevada.
“Judge Hicks once said, “My biggest thrill in life is my family,” even though he had done many great things. The way he lived his life was by balancing family, work, and himself, Balaam said.
People remembered how much Judge Hicks loved his family and his neighborhood.
“Larry Hicks was a one of a kind man, revered in our community and, most importantly, beloved by his family,” he said. “On behalf of my family and the people who work at the Sheriff’s Office, we send our deepest condolences to Larry’s son Chris, who is now the District Attorney, and the rest of his family.” People in Washoe County will always remember Judge Hicks.
