A popular campground in the Milford area will be getting a multimillion dollar upgrade.
Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud announced that the city will spend $2 million toward improvements for Camp Dearborn, the 626-acre recreation and camping area owned by the city and located off of General Motors Road, west of the Village of Milford.
The expenditure is part of $30 million Dearborn is spending on public parks and green infrastructure. Most of the funds are from American Rescue Plan Act funding.
Hammoud told The Detroit News the money will be used for electrical upgrades, new tents, public WiFi and bringing back better paddle boats. They will also undertake a master plan for Camp Dearborn that includes adding hiking and biking paths.
