Counties of Plazar, Nevada, and Sierra – Drivers utilizing Interstate 80 (I-80) in the counties of Placer, Nevada, and Sierra should brace themselves for substantial delays this fall due to the ongoing construction projects and emergency repairs. If you’re a driver, you should prepare for delays of up to two hours, according to Caltrans.
Although the emergency repair work is coming to an end, there are still a number of large projects that will cause ramps and lanes to be closed along the I-80 Sierra corridor. Notable closures planned for the coming week include:
From Monday, September 30 through Thursday, October 3, there will be lane restrictions in place from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. on eastbound I-80 as part of the Placer/Nevada Bridge Preservation Project at Magra. As of 10 p.m., more work will commence. From 4 to 8 in the morning on Friday, October 18. The 5th of October, Saturday.
From 6 a.m. on Monday, September 30th through 10 a.m. on Friday, October 4th, there will be continuous lane and ramp closures as part of the Monte Vista Pavement Rehabilitation Project, which is located between Monte Vista and Drum Forebay. Starting at 7 p.m., work will also commence. Mark your calendars for Friday, October 4th, from 4 to 10 a.m. The 5th of October, Saturday.

Lane closures will be in effect from Monday, September 30 through Thursday, October 3 for the Placer/Nevada Bridge Preservation Project, which is near Alta. The restrictions will be in force from 6 p.m. to 9 a.m. Between the hours of 9 p.m. on Friday, October 4 and 7 a.m., there will be further closures. The 5th of October, Saturday.
Lane closures will be in place from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Monday, September 30 to Thursday, October 3 as part of the Yuba Pass Separation Overhead Bridge Project, which is located between Yuba Gap and the State Route 20 junction.
On Friday, October 4, extra work will begin at 6 a.m. and continue until 9 a.m. The Placer/Nevada Bridge Preservation Project, which is close to Crystal Lake, will have lane closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning on Monday, September 30 and concluding on Thursday, October 3, with a work stoppage at 6 a.m. On Monday, September 30, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., there will be lane closures at Emergency Repairs Location 3, which is between Rainbow and Troy. This is scheduled for Friday, October 4.
Project to Rehabilitate the Pavement Between Troy and Soda Springs:
On Sunday, September 29, lane closures are planned from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. The work will be done continuously from Monday, September 30th at 6 a.m. to Friday, October 4th at 6 a.m.
