The incident happened around 7:45 a.m. at the Sutter Ave.-Rutland station, which is located near East 98th Street in the Brownsville area.

Authorities have not yet identified the victim. According to police, the man died at the scene after being hit by the southbound train.

As a result of the fatality, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) limited service on the No. 3 and No. 4 lines between Crown Heights-Utica Avenue and New Lots Avenue stations.

Commuters were advised to use buses to reach major transit hubs across Brooklyn.

At this time, it is unclear whether the victim jumped in front of the train or was already on the tracks when the train entered the station.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) is continuing its investigation into the cause of the accident.
