The community is being invited to a free, interactive performance of King Crusader and the Mystery of Michael the Kid, an original one-man show from Black and Brown Theatre, a Michigan-based nonprofit professional theater company.
It’s being held on Wednesday, May 10th from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church – Brighton, 400 E. Grand River Avenue.
Written by Detroit-area playwright Edmund Alyn Jones, the production is described as a “moving and inspiring story” that offers insights into the life and legend of civil rights icon Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Several church members attended the play’s premiere when the Livingston Diversity Council hosted it in January at the Howell Carnegie Library.
“We all thought it was so powerful and moving that we wanted more of the community to be able to see it,” explained church member Suzanne Everett.
Everett said the starring actor in the one-man show, Cameron Graham, is very talented and energetic in his various role/s.
“I think it is significant that this is a new, original play written by a local playwright. We are witnessing and supporting new theater that entertains and educates,” she said.
Doors open at 6 p.m. with light refreshments made available. Following the performance, there will be time for conversation and questions with the production team.
