Brighton Chamber expands into Oakland County

The Greater Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce is growing.

In an email announcement released Tuesday, the Brighton chamber said it was pleased to announce that the Kensington Valley Chamber of Commerce will now serve as a formal division under its umbrella similar to the arrangement with the Pinckney-Putnam-Hamburg-Hell and Whitmore Lake Chambers of Commerce.

The Kensington Valley Chamber of Commerce consists of South Lyon, Lyon Township, New Hudson and Salem Township.

With this merger, which took effect Monday, the Greater Brighton Area Chamber now consists of chambers of commerce within Livingston, Washtenaw and Oakland counties and will serve approximately 1,000 members.

According to the announcement, the current staff of the Kensington Valley Chamber of Commerce will remain onboard until the completion of their golf outing in June at which point the staff of the Greater Brighton Area Chamber will assume all duties.

In addition, Michelle Tokan has been hired as Division Director to work with all divisions of the Chamber and their events. Tokan served as the Michigan Challenge Balloonfest Director for 17 years, providing her an extensive background in event management and marketing.
