On Tuesday, a fire was aboard the cruise liner Icon of the Seas operated by Royal Caribbean International.

A spokesman for Royal Caribbean Group, the parent firm of the line, Nathaniel Derrenbacher, stated that there was also a temporary power outage on the ship. At the time, the ship was parked in Costa Maya, Mexico.

The minor fire contained to a crew area was promptly put out without causing any injuries. The major power systems of the ship were restored as soon as the backup power was turned on.
