The boil water advisory that had been issued on Thursday for City of Brighton water customers has been lifted.
City officials Saturday afternoon said there is no need for customers to continue to boil their water prior to consumption, as both sets of samples that were obtained did not contain any bacteria in the water. Officials say there are no further steps that City of Brighton water customers need to take and they can resume their normal water usage.
The advisory was issued after a water main break early Thursday involving a fifty year old large 12 inch cast pipe that broke seven feet below the surface on Washington near 3rd Street.
Officials say even though crews completed work late Thursday to get pressure restored, the boil water advisory had to remain in place until test results could be confirmed.
